These are some of the first pieces Seth produced for Happydale. They were part of the original promotional material that he pitched to the publishers. I am not sure if he even knew what the content of the story was going to be when he drew these images. He and Andrew had the idea for this town where all the citizens were outcasts in some quirky way or another, and the Devils in the Desert story they completed was only one of the many stories that they were going to set there. They thought there would be many more.
I will try to find the original mini comic that was what he showed to the publishers at the outset. If I can find it I will post it here. It is quite different from the story that Vertigo published. At least one of the images from it is on his website here, of a three-headed boy (or boys) sitting on the ground reading a comic book.
