The Doctor

Seth did this drawing on commission for Eddie Scrafton, who wrote this on his posting on the Comic Art Fans website:

I decided to get a bit more adventurous with my Authority collection and took the step of setting up my first commissioned piece. I'd really liked the pin-up that Seth Fisher had done in the Absolute Authority collection, so contacted him through his website (www.floweringnose.com). Seth was happy to take on the work and I was really surprised by how smooth the process was.

Seth was friendly and kept in contact all the way through the process, and he was
really fast as well. This image [the one on the left] is the first prelim work he did, based upon my request for a full figure drawing (pencilled & inked) of the Doctor. I was so happy with what Seth had done that I okayed the commission straight after seeing this initial sketch.

Here is the final version that Seth created based on the previous two prelims. He added in some great little weird beasties at the Doctor's feet and crawling up him which gives a really cool look to the piece.
Seth did a fantastic job on this commission for me and I was blown away by how friendly and easy to deal with he was.

Marvin the Martian

Marvin the Martian was drawn on commission for Terry Maltos, who has a collection of--I'm not sure, but he has a lot of humorous drawings done by different artists on his website, which you can see here.

I have posted other drawings that Seth did on commission for people who asked for theme drawings of one sort or another. This one is rather recent (2004) and, for a single figure drawing, very detailed.

C3PO gets enlightened

I have a letter from Seth written in November of 2004 in which he sent me a scan of this image. He said that he did it on commission for Dave West, who likes robots. That's all I know about it. The stem of the plant seems to be mechanical as well. But in his enlightenment there appears a small but real plant: a radish, I would say.

Lilliputians

Another collector of art who asks for theme drawings from different artists is Steven Gettis, who asks artists to interpret their favorite literary figure or author or character. The resulting artwork is posted on his website Hey Oscar Wilde! It's clobberin' time!!!

Seth responded with this charming 2001 drawing of the Lilliputians from Gulliver's Travels.

I remember Seth being interested in Gulliver's Travels at one time; I suppose it was about that time; he was living near here then. I don't know if he ever actually read it, but it was one of the few times he expressed an interest in a literary classic; his usual reading material was nonfiction.

cliff

There is a comics fan named Walt Parrish, also known as The Cliff Guy, who goes to comic book conventions and asks artists to draw pictures of cliffs, which he adds to his website, which you can access here. I am posting Seth's 1999 response to Walt's request. Seth did several drawings at different times with those Easter Island type sculptures in them.
Gorgeous clouds. If I hadn't seen this I would not have thought you could get the effect of big fluffy cumulus clouds with just lines.
