Ff/Iron Man: Big in Japan 2 page 9

Seth had a number of unique and amusing ways of indicating falling and impact. The two upper panels show Iron Man having been flattened against the building by the hand of Grogg, and now instead of stars (OK, there are a couple of stars) circling around his head, there are a spatula, bacon slice, a couple of fried eggs, and some other indicipherable food item, as if to show that hefelt as though he was hit in the head with an iron skillet. To the right of that, the arrow shows his increasing velocity as he falls to the ground. Further to the right, he hits the ground, and in the visual equivalent of "#%*!Q^#+" (the sort of thing that used to be used for curse words), he is surrounded by a couple more stars, plus a surprised armadillo, fish, and mouse. All these unusual effects actually get the point across better than the traditional forms, I think.

Heh. I love the bites taken out of the building.

Jay, I always liked that too--as if the building were something solid all the way through.
