Drawing in graphic mode: Big in Japan #1 page 22


Compared with the Doom Patrol page from yesterday, on this page the details are cleaner, more spare, more decorative. Seth always loved details, but he learned to use them not just for their own sake, but to give drama to the image and pleasure to the eye of the beholder.
From the whatever-that-is monster floating through the air in the upper left frame, to the strikingly angular frame for the gorilla's threatening face, to the shocked face of Reed in a little box, to the creatures floating below in a clear sea, below the gorgeous almost Art Nouveau splashes we see above the water level, every detail has both an informative purpose, and a design purpose as well.
