controlling the passage of time


This is a letter that Seth sent me when he was in college, in probably 1993 or 94. He had left a copy of Scott McCloud's book Understanding Comics here at the house over Christmas vacation, and I read and enjoyed it. I wrote to him about what I had learned, and he responded with this.
So before he ever started to seriously draw comic books, he was thinking about how to lay out pages in order to show the passage of time.

that is a really cool example of slowing down time! the whole page, quick and simple as it is, has so many pauses, so many changes of pace...very very cool...
