Doom Patrol #13 page 22

This is the challenge: you have a story, drawn in black ink on white board, that nobody expects to take seriously, and in this segment you need to have a monster appear that looks scary, but not too scary, because the characters (and the readers?) must realize that it is fake. Various levels of reality, or rather of unreality.
This is a splash page of the monster crunching buildings as it marches toward our heroes. The building under the monster's left foot just beginning to crumble would have been something that Seth heartily enjoyed--that second just after the building was doomed but before its actual collapse. The heroes' reactions are recorded in two small inset frames, introducing, and then commenting on the monster in the main page. Those reaction frames are essential, but they are not the center of attention.

Monster’s POV in the first panel is a brilliant choice.
